Slam Dunk FestivalPosted: May 30, 2013
So Nate convinced me I should go to Slam Dunk this year. I had more money than last year so I thought why not. We went to Slam dunk south which was held on sunday the 26th. I was a bit unsure at first as I prefer to see bands in the evening and thought I would be overwhelmed by the amount of bands, I also felt a bit out of touch with that scene but Luckily I did go as it was a sweet day! I saw some of my favourite bands, some old friends I hadn’t seen for a while and a few bands with which I had played with in my old band So it was nice to see how those bands had changed and it was good to still feel like part of that scene. I saw the story so far, ( one of my favourite new bands ) Mc lars, ( an old friend, toured back in 2007! ) Me vs hero, ( last time I saw them was when we played together in a pub the size of a small box in the middle of no where) The wonder years, ( Nate loves them) Kids in glass houses, Senses fail, Allister, Deaf havana and all time low. The last time I saw all time low was when I was 19 and we were supporting them on their first UK tour so it was strange to see how much they had grown as they were headlining the main stage.
It also made me think, most people that I saw on Sunday hadn’t changed much in years, they had only grown as people and as bands which is a really positive thing. It felt like I went back to my music roots that day 🙂 I did feel a bit older than most of the crowd though,I am only 23 but there were so many young kids there, some with parents which was nice. It made me realize how much time has gone past as I remember when I used to be the young one at shows. I said I felt older but I also in another way felt like my young self as we went crazy for some of the bands, something I hadn’t done for years, so that was kind of fun. A contradiction but nevermind :p
